Single Session Therapy

Hi there…

At this point, we all know therapy works. However, you might be wondering what are the options if you don’t need or want long-term therapy. That’s where a single therapy session comes in.

In my experience, there are people who benefit from just one session. Get in, discuss one issue, identify options, create a plan of action, and get out. Boom! They’re done.

This could be just what you need to address a concern you have or to make a big decision. In just one session, you could walk away feeling lighter, understood, and clearer. Let me teach you how to ask yourself powerful questions, so you can take the next step forward without spending months in therapy, figuring it out alone or with people who genuinely want to help but aren’t equipped to do so.

A single therapy session can be helpful addressing issues such as:

  • Managing relationship distress (family, friend, romantic, coworker/boss, etc.).

  • Exploring career or school options.

  • Figuring out how to get back on track with God.

  • Discussing ways to approach a difficult conversation.

  • Identifying what’s blocking you from doing what you know you should be doing.

  • Strategies to help with making a difficult decision.

How does it help you?

  • Saves you time and money by not committing to regular, ongoing therapy.

  • Get relief from addressing an issue that’s important to you.

  • Get support from a trained professional with proven results so you can take quick action.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Complete the form below by answering several questions. Based on your answers, Dr. Perry will help you identify whether your concern can realistically be addressed in one session.

  • Unlike traditional therapy, you will focus on one issue that can realistically be addressed in a single session. The focus is also the here-and-now so there won’t be too much time spent exploring the past. It’s also a bit more fast-paced and solution-focused.

  • No, the aim of Single Session Therapy is ideally for one session. There may be occasions when ongoing therapy can be done with Dr. Perry depending on availability and clinical recommendations. If it is determined you need ongoing therapy and Dr. Perry is not available, additional resources will be provided to you.

  • It depends. If you want to schedule another session for the same issue, you would be be encouraged to consider taking time to reflect on and apply strategies discussed in the first session. If you still need assistance, then you and Dr. Perry can collaborate about your options.

*Please keep in mind that single session therapy is not meant to replace regular-ongoing therapy if that is what would best meet your needs.

  • If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield (PPO), the visit will be filed with your insurance. Please keep in mind that insurance will cover prolonged session out of “medical necessity,” which requires a diagnosis. The goal of the single session will be to help you identify strategies to address your identified concern. As such, one session with this laser focus may not be sufficient to gather enough information to adequately determine an appropriate diagnosis. As such, the claim may be denied. Contact your insurance company if you have questions about your coverage.

If you do not have BlueCross Blue Shield (PPO), you would pay the private pay rate of $350.
