I am a board certified and Christian psychologist with a passion for helping others have a change of heart in order to Think.Grow.Live!  As a Christian psychologist, I use these values to foster a genuine, compassionate, accepting, and truthful style of relating to others.  I believe the patient-therapist relationship is a critical factor in the process and outcome of treatment.

I am a proud graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology. Next, I obtained an M.S. degree in Counseling from an accredited program at the University of North Texas at Dallas. Afterwards, I went on to earn a PhD in Counseling Psychology (with an emphasis in couple and family therapy) from an American Psychological Association (APA)-accredited program at UNT.   My training also consists of an APA-accredited predoctoral internship and postdoctoral residency with an emphasis in couple and family therapy at Dallas VA Medical Center. Before transitioning into full-time practice, I was a staff psychologist at the Dallas VA and an assistant professor of psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. I have also worked as an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of North Texas.

Most recently, I am honored to be the First Black Woman Board Certified in Couple and Family Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.

I am licensed in Texas and an authorized PSYPACT provider, who can practice in 40 other states.

I treat clients and patients from diverse age groups, ethnic cultures, stages of life development, career paths, and spiritual/religious practices.  My special interests include interpersonal psychotherapy, couple and family dynamics, clinical supervision/consultation, and spirituality in psychotherapy. I specialize in the following areas:

  • Couple, family, and relationship distress

  • Depression and anxiety resulting from interpersonal conflict

  • Adjustment from life transitions (e.g. grief, graduation, career changes, end of relationship)

  • Grief and caregiver concerns

  • Spirituality and daily living

I am a warm and inviting psychologist who offers professional expertise with a personal touch.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, crafting home décor, and watching football and my favorite TV shows.

Change your life by changing your heart.
